Pakistan Muslim League-Functional has asked Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood not to accept the Governorship of Punjab and any decision of him in this regard has nothing to do with PML-F, said PML-F chief, Pir Sabghatullah Shah Rashdi (Pir Pagara). The PML-F chief was talking to media at Raja House after meeting PTI leader Jahangir Tareen. Secretary General PML-F Sindh, Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh, MNA Khuda Bux Rajar and others were also present on the occasion.

He denied any kind of political contact with PPP, saying that the PML-F has no backdoors and it would welcome anyone from the front door. He said that they had only family contacts as his family had blood relations with the families of Yousuf Raza Gilani and other Makhdooms. "The PPP's decision to propose Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood's name for such a big slot in Punjab proves the dearth of suitable people in PPP," he remarked.

To a question, Pagara said, "he had prior knowledge of PPP's contact with Mehmood, which were going on for the last three months and he (Mehmood) had came to me seeking advice." He said that he had advised Ahmed Mehmood not to accept the offer. Pagara further said that elections schedule would be announced in next couple of months and the situation would change after the announcement.

On the occasion, Jahangir Tareen said that Pir Pagara was planning to visit Islamabad and Lahore very soon so he had requested him for a meeting with Imran Khan. Earlier, both the leaders discussed the current political and economic situation of the country.
